''We believe in building close relationships with our clients"
It is unusual for any two investors to have either identical financial requirements or indeed the same attitude towards risk. At Fieldings, we recognise this. Therefore every client is treated as an individual rather than part of an homogenous group.
Backed by a strong support team, every client of FIM has, as a principal point of contact, their own personal portfolio manager, who is available to discuss particular investment requirements as well as taking care of all aspects of their investment affairs on a day to day basis.
We believe that our style of individual, personal service is not just refreshingly different; it is also highly effective.
An individual approach:we treat every client as unique, there are no 'package deals'. Working in partnership with our clients, we establish and agree with them a tailored investment strategy that we believe is capable of meeting their ultimate financial objectives. This becomes the basis for a series of guidelines along which the client's portfolio is managed.
"I am writing to confirm that Fieldings Investment Management Ltd have been selected to manage our investment portfolio. The Trustees unanimously agreed that your presentation showed an understanding of what our (charitable) Fund is about."
Our range of options: we can manage portfolios on a fully discretionary basis, allowing us to take quick, decisive action on our clients' behalf. This relieves the client of all the administrative headaches associated with the day to day management of the portfolio.
Alternatively, we also act on an advisory basis, contacting clients, usually by telephone, to discuss our recommendations before taking any action on the client's behalf.
Personal contact: whether operating in an advisory capacity or on a fully discretionary basis, we believe in building very close relationships with our clients. Essential telephone or email contact will be supported by regular quarterly written reports and face-to-face contact at review meetings.
"Thank you so much for the quarterly report. Such a good presentation and very clear. While it is true that the move from our previous manager was quite well timed, my wife and I are only sorry we didn't do it some time ago. Thank you for making the transfer so painless and so encouraging."
We also believe that portfolio management is only one aspect of the service we provide within the framework of a client's lifestyle. We would expect to work closely with our clients other professional advisers - in particular their solicitors and accountants.
Minimal bureaucracy: we are not an organisation that has a multitude of administrative layers. We know that by keeping the lines of communication short, we get the best possible understanding of our clients' requirements.
"We are so pleased that you were prepared to take on our portfolio. It has proved such a contrast with our later experience with our previous manager, and hope that it is satisfactory from your point of view as well. With very best wishes."
